The Everyday Realities – Real Women, Their Stories, Your Advancement

The Everyday Real

If there’s one thing we know about… it’s the food and beverage industry. From front of house to corporate, production to distribution; we’ve seen all the different angles of this diverse, far-reaching and eclectic world.

Amidst all the incredible triumphs and breakthroughs, silent career killers are lurking beneath the surface; sexism, age bias, a lack of diversity. For example, women represented a pitiful 18% of the food industry’s C-suite executives in 2018, down from 23% in 2017. Through exposure, education, and community, The Everyday Real is inspiring change, arming employees and providing a much-needed nucleus of support.

So, how are we doing it?

3 pillars support and frame The Everyday Real – Real women, real stories and real advancement. We can’t wait to tell you all about it!

REAL Women

We’re a community that connects ambitious, successful and aspiring professionals. Our commitment to Real Women will see us showcasing our members, highlighting women who are smashing their goals and cheering on inspirational girl bosses who are breaking the mold.

REAL Stories

Got something to say? We want to hear it! We’ll be hearing stories from our members, community and the wider industry, exposing the good, the bad and the ugly.

“You’re young enough to be my daughter”, “better luck on that promotion next time”, “you’ll be eligible for a pay raise if you promise not to go on full maternity”. Umm, what? Whilst change is coming, it can be hard to know what to do in the here and now. Whether you’ve experienced something in the workplace that you want to discuss, or you’ve been witness to instances that simply shouldn’t occur, we want to bring them to the forefront.

Did you know that more sexual harassment claims in the U.S. are filed in the restaurant industry than in any other? As many as 90% of women reportedly experience some form of sexual harassment, but do we hear their stories? Anonymous or outspoken, we’re providing a platform where women can be heard – alongside actionable tips on how to respond, avoid and cope with these uncomfortable situations. Our founder, Angela, will be sharing her own difficult stories and adding her thoughts to the stories of others. Together, with the right advice, we can make a positive change.
